II. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION:
Physical education should aim to provide skilled leadership, adequate facilities and ample time which will afford an opportunity for the individual or group to act in situations which are physically wholesome, mentally stimulating, satisfying and socially sound.
Hence the aim of Physical education is the wholesome development of an individual to enable him to live a healthy and productive life.It incorporates Physical, mental, social, intand emotional development.
THE OBJECTIVES OF P.E.
1. Physical Development: It relates to developing the Physical strength of an individual through the development of muscular strength. For example: Cardio exercises, like running.
2. Motor Development: It refers to development of the movement of the body parts such as arms, legs, fingers, etc. Motor development enables an individual to perform daily activities like sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, holding objects and pouring drinks.
For example: Players are taught to lose graciously, be polite to their opponents and play by the rules of the game.
